Cairo Incident Involving Fakhri Lakai Raises Concerns

In a notable traffic incident in the fifth district of eastern Cairo, Fakhri Lakai, a South African forward for Ceramica Cleopatra, the current leaders of the Egyptian Premier League, struck a woman who was crossing the road, resulting in multiple fractures and injuries.
Police reports indicate that emergency services received a call regarding a collision involving an injured woman. Upon arrival, it was determined that Lakai had been caught off guard by the woman, who appeared suddenly in front of his vehicle, leaving him unable to stop in time.
The player stated that he did not intend to hit the woman and described the incident as accidental, emphasizing his attempt to avoid the collision.
Moustafa El-Battawy, the general supervisor of football at Ceramica, confirmed that Lakai transported the injured woman to the nearest hospital for immediate care following the accident.
A medical source reported that the woman sustained fractures, cuts, and bruises. The club noted that both parties reconciled after completing the legal procedures, and the investigation into the incident has been closed.
Following the incident, Fakhri Lakai resumed training with his team and attended the match between Ceramica Cleopatra and Enppi in the fourth round of the Egyptian Capital Cup, supporting his teammates from the stands.
Lakai is recognized as one of the top professionals in the Egyptian league, having recently joined Ceramica Cleopatra on loan from Pyramids FC, and continues to perform well this season.
