YouTube Introduces New Search Filters for Enhanced User Experience

The platform YouTube has announced significant updates to its search filters, aimed at giving users greater control over the content they wish to view.
Users can now specifically search for either Shorts or long videos, eliminating the previous mix that often led to user frustration.
According to technology news sources, the new filters will allow users to choose:
• Standard Videos: to display only long videos.
• Shorts: to display only short videos.
Additionally, YouTube has removed the filters for Upload Date - Last Hour and Sort by Rating, citing their ineffectiveness and user complaints.
However, options for upload dates such as today, this week, this month, and this year will remain available.
YouTube has also introduced a new filter called Popularity, which replaces the View Count option. This new filter assesses videos based on view counts, watch duration, and other relevance indicators to determine their popularity in relation to search queries.
To enhance usability, the Sort By list has been renamed to Prioritize for improved clarity and effectiveness.
These updates are part of YouTube's ongoing efforts to provide a more accurate and seamless search experience, enabling users to access the type of content they prefer—whether short clips or long videos—without sifting through mixed results.
