Syria's Government Takes Control of Rmeilan Oil Field Amid Economic Revitalization Efforts

The delegation comprised representatives from various government entities, including General Marwan Ali, head of internal security in Hasaka province, Colonel Ahmad Ahmad, director of Airport and Border Crossing Security, and Amjad Nakhal, assistant to the president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, along with officials from the Syrian Oil Company.
Technical Visit for Field Assessment
Safwan Sheikh Ahmad, director of institutional communication at the Syrian Oil Company, stated that technical teams and engineers will conduct an exploratory visit to the Rmeilan and Suwayda fields to assess their technical condition and operational readiness for the next phase of operations.
Worker Guarantees and Expected Salary Improvements
During the visit, the government delegation assured that all workers at the Rmeilan facilities will retain their positions, with efforts to improve their salaries and living conditions. They emphasized that oil resources are a national asset for all Syrians without exception.
Comprehensive Agreement for Northeast Reorganization
In late January 2026, the Syrian government announced a comprehensive agreement with the SDF, which includes an immediate ceasefire and a gradual integration of forces and administrative institutions, aimed at unifying Syrian territories and reestablishing control over border crossings and strategic resources, particularly oil and gas fields.
