Egyptian Arts Union Halts Broadcast of Series "روح OFF" for Ramadan 2026

In a significant move that has reverberated through Egypt's artistic community, the Egyptian Arts Union has announced the permanent suspension of the series "روح OFF" from airing during Ramadan 2026, stating that the decision is final.
This action follows multiple warnings issued to the series producer, Bilal Sabri, regarding compliance with the union's regulations and the laws governing artistic work, which he failed to adhere to.
The most notable violation involved the hiring of blogger "Um Jaser" without the necessary official approval from the union, which contravenes established rules that prohibit the engagement of individuals not listed in the union's official registry.
In its statement, the union emphasized that safeguarding the profession and protecting the rights of its members are paramount, asserting that any artistic project not in compliance with the law will face severe repercussions. The union reiterated that the suspension is irrevocable and that strict enforcement of equal opportunity principles and respect for artistic regulations is essential.
"روح OFF" is an Egyptian drama penned by Ahmed Ashour and directed by Karim Rafat, originally slated for release during the Ramadan 2026 season.
The storyline follows a once-famous singer from the 1990s who struggles to regain his status by collaborating with emerging rap artists, navigating a landscape filled with rivalry and challenges to rebuild his career.
The cast features Mounzer Riahna, Mirna Walid, Salah Abdel-Lah, Nancy Salah, Tarek El-Nahri, Sherif Baher, Mohamed Suleiman, Tahr Abu Leila, Reda Hamid, Rania El-Toumi, Ashraf Talaba, Nermin Gamal, alongside rap stars such as Samir Afarto, Felix, Risha Costa, Samara, and Sadat.
The union has clearly warned against any future violations, stating that adherence to the law is the only path forward for those wishing to remain in the Egyptian artistic scene.
