Egypt's President Sisi Provides State-Funded Healthcare for Renowned Artists

In a humanitarian gesture welcomed by the arts community and the public, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi has issued a decree to provide state-funded healthcare for senior artists and members of the actors' union. This initiative recognizes their substantial artistic contributions to enriching Egyptian and Arab culture.
The decree includes a number of prominent figures who have made a lasting impact on the history of Egyptian art, such as actress Abla Kamel, artist Nagwa Fouad, actor Ahmed Fouad Selim, artist Diaa El-Mirghani, actor Abdallah Moshref, and actress Jamila Aziz.
Ashraf Zaki, president of the actors' union, expressed the union's deep gratitude to President Sisi, stating in an official announcement:
"The actors' union extends its sincerest thanks and profound appreciation to the president for his directives to care for distinguished artists with rich artistic legacies. The state has a responsibility to provide them with treatment and full support, in gratitude for their creativity and contributions to the Egyptian and Arab spirit over the decades."
Zaki further noted that this humanitarian initiative reflects the president's deep appreciation for the role of art and artists in shaping national consciousness and preserving Egypt's cultural identity, affirming the state's commitment to honor its loyal sons who have contributed to the happiness of the people.
Regarding Abla Kamel's health status, Zaki clarified in a phone call that she is in good condition and currently at home surrounded by her family.
* Artistic Career of Abla Kamel:
Abla began her career in drama with the series "The Martyr and the Tears" part two and "Halima's Nights," before gaining fame through the series "I Will Not Live in My Father's Shelter."
She has starred in notable works such as "Raya and Sakina," "Morning and Evening Talk," "The Ghosts of Sayala," "The Weddings of Iblis," "The Ladies of Garden City," as well as films like "El Lemby," "Women," "Aunt France," and "Hysteria."
Her last appearance was in the fifth season of the series "Salsal al-Dam" in 2018, after which she announced her retirement and declined to participate in the sixth season.
This initiative serves as a humanitarian gesture honoring the greatest artists who have shaped the spirit of the Egyptian people, reaffirming the Egyptian state's commitment to valuing its creative sons.
