Mohamed Sami Faces Setback in Acting Career with '8 Shots'

Egyptian director Mohamed Sami has faced an unexpected challenge at the beginning of his acting career, having planned to make his debut in a dramatic series titled "8Shots".
Sami was set to co-star with Fathi Abdel Wahab, and the series was to be directed by Ahmed El Masri, marking his directorial debut. However, the project has been halted indefinitely without an official announcement regarding the reasons behind the decision.
Informed sources have indicated that Sami encountered several production and marketing challenges, in addition to the withdrawal of several proposed actors, which led to a complete freeze of the preparations.
Despite this setback, sources confirm that Sami remains determined to pursue acting and has not succumbed to frustration. He has immediately begun searching for a new dramatic script that fulfills his dream of appearing on screen.
* New Project Highlighting Education
According to sources, Sami has selected a new dramatic script focusing on the educational crisis in Egypt, where he portrays an educational character battling the "private tutoring mafia" and those exploiting students for significant financial gain.
Through this character, Sami aims to present a positive model for educators and assist students in adopting modern and effective study methods, raising fundamental questions affecting the educational system at its core.
No date has yet been set for the commencement of filming for this new project, but enthusiasm is evident in the Egyptian director as he prepares to embark on this experience.
* Temporary Withdrawal from Directing and Study Abroad
It has been noted that Sami had a strong presence in the last Ramadan season, directing two successful series, "Ish Ish" and "Sayyid Al Nas," before announcing a temporary withdrawal from directing to focus on acting and personal endeavors.
In an unexpected move, Sami traveled outside Egypt, clarifying that his decision came after 15 years of continuous work, fearing he might "overexpose his style" or fall into "the trap of repetition." He confirmed that the trip is related to his studies, as he will spend two years learning something he has dreamed of studying for years but had to postpone due to artistic commitments.
His wife, Mai Omar, confirmed that Sami's significant efforts during Ramadan were the reason for his need to rest and recharge away from the pressures of filming for a specified period.
