Elon Musk's Net Worth Exceeds $800 Billion Following SpaceX-xAI Merger

In a significant milestone, Elon Musk has become the first individual in history to surpass a net worth of $800 billion following the acquisition of xAI by his rocket company SpaceX, which he also owns.
According to estimates from Forbes, the merger, which valued the combined entity at $1.25 trillion, has increased Musk's fortune to $852 billion, making SpaceX the most valuable asset in his portfolio by a considerable margin.
Prior to the merger, Musk held approximately 42% of SpaceX shares, valued at around $336 billion, based on a previous acquisition offer that valued the company at $800 billion.
His stake in xAI was about 49%, worth $122 billion, following a funding round that valued the company at $250 billion earlier this month.
After the merger, Musk's ownership in the unified company stands at 43%, with an estimated value of $542 billion.
Musk's portfolio also includes a 12% stake in Tesla, valued at $178 billion, along with stock options worth $124 billion.
These estimates do not account for record-breaking compensation packages that could potentially add up to $1 trillion more to Musk's wealth if Tesla meets its ambitious goals, including increasing its market value more than eightfold over the next decade.
Notably, this merger marks the second time in less than a year that Musk has combined two of his companies; in March, he merged xAI with the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), in a deal that valued xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion, a figure close to what he paid for Twitter in 2022.
In just four months, Musk has achieved four record milestones in his net worth:
• October: Surpassed $500 billion.
• December 15: Exceeded $600 billion following private investor valuations of SpaceX at $800 billion.
• Four days later: Surpassed $700 billion after the Supreme Court's decision to reinstate Tesla's stock options.
As a result, Musk has become wealthier than the world's second-richest person, Larry Page, by a margin of $578 billion, with Page's fortune estimated at around $281 billion. Musk is now only a step away from being the first trillionaire, which is roughly equivalent to "half of Larry Page's wealth."
