Egyptian Actor Killed Outside Popular Club, Suspect Detained

The city of October was the site of a tragic event that led to the death of Egyptian actor Said Saleh Mokhtar (56) outside one of the area's most famous clubs, igniting significant debate on social media regarding the implications of family issues and divorce.
On Sunday, Giza's Security Directorate received a report of a homicide occurring outside the club. Authorities discovered the body of Mokhtar alongside a businessman, identified as "Atef.A" (61), who sustained injuries.
Investigations revealed that the incident was linked to family disputes, as Mokhtar was at the location to meet his nine-year-old son following a separation from his wife. It was noted that his ex-wife was accompanied by a businessman she had informally married three months prior while she and the child were en route to the club.
According to her police statement, "Mokhtar began to attack her and her husband with a knife." She further claimed, "He inflicted injuries on her husband, who was defending himself, which led to Mokhtar's death 'unintentionally.'"
In response, the Egyptian prosecutor's office has detained the accused businessman for four days as investigations continue. The ex-wife of the deceased has also been summoned for questioning to clarify the details surrounding the incident.
Public reaction has extended beyond official actions, with social media platforms buzzing with diverse opinions from activists. Many consider the incident a "wake-up call" regarding the consequences of divorce and custody disputes, highlighting deeper social issues. Others view it as a critical reminder of violence against women during and after divorce, prompting discussions on the need for protective measures in family conflicts.
