Atlético de Madrid Signs Ademola Lookman from Atalanta to Strengthen Attack

In a significant move during the winter transfer window, Spanish club Atlético de Madrid has officially announced the signing of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Italian side Atalanta on a contract that runs until June 2030.
The 28-year-old Lookman is known for his versatility, capable of playing as a central forward, a fast winger, or a creative midfielder. His speed and dribbling skills allow him to operate effectively on both flanks, making him a valuable addition to the team's attacking options.
Lookman's career began at Charlton Athletic in November 2015, after which he played for clubs including Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City before joining Atalanta in the summer of 2022. He was also awarded the African Player of the Year in 2025, highlighting his impressive performances in recent seasons.
Currently, Atlético de Madrid sits in third place in La Liga with 45 points, trailing second-place Real Madrid by nine points and first-place Barcelona by ten points. The acquisition of Lookman is seen as a crucial step in enhancing the team's title aspirations.
This signing is regarded as one of the standout moves of the current season, with expectations for Lookman to make a significant impact for the club both this season and in the future.
