Concerns Grow for Egyptian Singer Sherine Abdel Wahab Amidst Reports of Isolation
Amid rising concerns from her fanbase, Ashraf Zaki, president of the Egyptian Actors Association, provided an update on the health and career of renowned singer Sherine Abdel Wahab. She has been largely absent from public view, leading to numerous inquiries on social media.
Zaki confirmed in a phone interview with the program Al-Hekaya on MBCEgypt that he visited Sherine at her home recently, where they had a conversation.
He stated that she is in good health but prefers not to socialize or engage with friends extensively, adding, "She is not in the mood to go out at this time."
Zaki attempted to persuade her to make a public appearance, but she declined, suggesting that her situation might change in the future.
He also mentioned that her children would be visiting soon and that she is not alone at home, as she has close friends around her.
Sherine addressed the rumors regarding her health on her official Instagram account, labeling them as "ridiculous rumors" and threatening legal action against those spreading them.
A source close to the singer indicated that she is experiencing severe depression and is isolating herself at home, communicating only with her two daughters.
Last year proved challenging for her, marked by significant personal disputes with her brother Mohamed, which escalated to a legal restraining order against him, as well as emotional crises involving her ex-husband Hossam Habib.
In this context, presenter Amr Adib made an urgent appeal for Sherine to make an appearance and connect with her audience, expressing that her absence from the artistic and media scenes is concerning. He described her as an artistic treasure of Egypt and the Arab world that must be preserved.
During his program, Adib stated: "I feel like Sherine is fading away... I have no information about her, who she is with, her health status, or her social life. Please help me find her."
Adib emphasized that Sherine's media presence is crucial to clarify the circumstances surrounding her and to reassure her fans, asserting, "We must take care of Sherine, and she needs to speak because we care about her."
