YouTube Fuels Google's Growth with 325 Million Subscribers and Over $60 Billion in Revenue

Google's subscription services saw notable growth in the fourth quarter, primarily attributed to the strong performance of YouTube, which has enhanced its revenue streams through both advertising and subscriptions.
The Alphabet subsidiary reported that the total number of paid subscribers for Google One and YouTube Premium increased to 325million, up from 300million just three months prior, indicating a significant acceleration in subscriber growth.
* Advertising and Subscription Revenue
YouTube's advertising revenue grew by 9% in the fourth quarter, reaching $11.38 billion, although this figure fell short of analysts' expectations of $11.84 billion.
The platform's total revenue, which includes both advertising and subscription income, surpassed $60 billion for the year, reflecting a 17% increase year-over-year.
Google noted that the ad-free YouTube Premium service, priced at approximately $8 per month, is seeing robust demand, confirming that paid subscriptions are a key driver of growth.
* YouTube TV Package Expansion
Alphabet's CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced plans to broaden YouTube's subscription offerings, particularly focusing on YouTube TV.
Pichai stated: "We are set to introduce new YouTube TV plans that will provide more options and flexibility, including over 10 specialized packages based on content type."
* Growth in YouTube Shorts, Podcasts, and AI Tools
YouTube Shorts achieved an impressive average of 200billion views daily during the quarter, maintaining its popularity, with certain markets generating higher revenue per viewing hour compared to traditional long-form ads.
In terms of podcasts, there was significant growth, with users watching approximately 700million hours of podcast content on televisions in October alone.
On the artificial intelligence front, the company reported that its AI-driven tools are gaining traction, with over 1 million channels utilizing AI-supported content creation tools, while around 20million users engaged with the Gemini-based content discovery tool in December.
