U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Basset confirmed that the new sanctions imposed on Russia represent a "maximum pressure campaign," emphasizing that Washington is capable of significantly reducing Moscow's profits from the oil sector.
In an official statement, Basset clarified that the measures target the two largest Russian energy companies, "Rosneft" and "Lukoil," along with their affiliated institutions, as part of the response to the ongoing Russian military operations in Ukraine.
The Secretary added that the United States is urging its allies to join these sanctions, stressing that it is time to stop the killing and reach an immediate ceasefire.
