Tragedy in Egypt: A phone charger claims the lives of an entire family in Shubra El-Kheima

The Bejam area in the Shubra El-Kheima district of Egypt witnessed a tragic incident last Thursday, resulting in the death of an entire family after a massive fire broke out inside the apartment they were residing in.
According to initial investigations, an electrical short circuit caused by a mobile phone charger ignited the fire, which started in the kitchen and quickly spread to other parts of the apartment, leading to thick smoke that suffocated all family members, totaling six people, including children.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the fire broke out around seven in the morning, as they heard the sounds of children crying before neighbors attempted to intervene to extinguish the flames using water hoses.
They explained that controlling the fire was extremely difficult, as the flames consumed the apartment within a few minutes.
Sources also indicated that the presence of an iron door in front of the apartment door contributed to the delay in neighbors entering to rescue the children, and when they entered, they were shocked to find five charred bodies inside the apartment.
Meanwhile, a child with special needs lost his life due to smoke inhalation despite the flames not reaching him.
The tragic family consisted of a mother, her sister, and four children, and initial investigations revealed that an electrical short circuit caused by the phone charger was the reason behind this tragedy, which shocked the residents of the area and sparked deep sorrow among neighbors and the local community.
