The Syrian presidency announced that President Ahmad Al-Shara will participate in the climate summit "COP30" hosted by the Brazilian city of Belém from the 6th to the 21st of November. "SANA" reported that Al-Shara will make an official visit on the 6th and 7th of this month, coinciding with the start of the summit's activities.
Bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit
The presidency indicated that the participation schedule includes bilateral meetings with leaders and delegations of the attending countries, within the framework of political openness and diplomatic movement during one of the largest international events concerned with climate.
Syria's first participation
This is the first participation of a Syrian president in a climate conference since its establishment in 1995, according to the Syrian news agency. The 2025 edition comes with increasing international focus on assessing emission reduction commitments and enhancing the transition to clean energy, amid growing warnings of the widening effects of global warming.
