During the Turayz 2025 forum held in Riyadh, Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo declared his pride in considering himself Saudi and praised the kingdom as a remarkable place to live and work.
Ronaldo explained that his move to the Saudi league stemmed from his belief in the nation’s potential and aspirations. He emphasized his desire to contribute to various sectors and major initiatives within the country. He noted that his decision has been validated since relocating to Riyadh, expressing particular fondness for the city of AlUla and the Red Sea project, and his eagerness to be involved in the substantial development underway in Saudi Arabia.
The athlete asserted that the Saudi league ranks among the top five football leagues globally, acknowledging the competitive nature of its participants. He also spoke about Saudi Arabia's upcoming role as the host of the 2034 World Cup, expressing confidence that it will be one of the most memorable tournaments in the event's history.
Ronaldo joined Al Nassr on a two-and-a-half-year contract in 2022 after departing from Manchester United and has recently extended his contract to remain with the team into his 42nd year.
