The Paris public prosecutor's office announced today that a woman suspected of involvement in the daytime robbery at the Louvre Museum has been released under judicial supervision. She is prohibited from leaving the country or contacting other suspects.
This woman is one of four individuals currently under formal investigation in a case that has raised alarms in both cultural and security sectors. The robbery resulted in the theft of historical jewelry valued at $102 million from the Apollo Gallery, where the French crown jewels are housed.
According to reports, two men employed an electric ladder to transport equipment to the second floor, where they broke a window and used power tools to open display cases. They then escaped on motorcycles driven by two accomplices.
Public prosecutor Laure Becco confirmed that three men and one woman have been arrested in connection with the investigation, with the released woman believed to have ties to one of the suspects.
Despite ongoing investigations, authorities have yet to locate the stolen jewelry, raising concerns about whether the items have been smuggled out of France or hidden domestically.
The judicial authorities continue to pursue leads amid significant media coverage, as they seek to resolve one of the most audacious heists in European museum history.
