"Juliet Shakespeare Did Not Die" .. Alive in the Letters of Student Lovers Seeking Her Advice

Despite more than four centuries having passed since the tragedy of "Romeo and Juliet", the famous Shakespearean heroine remains present in the hearts of lovers around the world.

The Italian city of Verona, which hosts her literary legacy, receives about 5,000 letters each year from teenage girls and women seeking romantic advice from "Juliet".

Since 1972, volunteers at the "Juliet Club" have taken it upon themselves to read and respond to these letters, transforming the fictional character into a symbolic guide in real love stories. Celebrations of her birthday are held every year on September 16, featuring cultural and romantic events, and hundreds of lovers visit "Juliet's House" to leave their letters on its walls and touch her bronze statue in hopes of love luck.

Although Juliet in the play was only fourteen years old, her image has become a global symbol of passionate love, just as Arab heritage immortalized the stories of "Qais and Layla" and "Jamil and Buthaina".

It is noted that the Italian researcher Giuseppe Franco Viviani determined her birth date to be September 16, 1284, based on ancient texts, making this day an annual occasion to celebrate the lovesick girl who transformed from a tragic character into an eternal legend.

In this way, Verona capitalizes on the legacy of "Romeo and Juliet" to enhance its status as a romantic tourist destination, attracting thousands of lovers seeking the trace of "undying love".
