Israeli Army Prepares for Potential Large-Scale Operation in Gaza

The "Times of Israel" reported today that Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has indicated that the Israeli military is prepared to initiate a large-scale operation aimed at extending control over additional regions of the Gaza Strip, specifically areas located beyond the established ceasefire lines, referred to as the "yellow line."

Zamir emphasized that the military's objective is to prevent Hamas from re-establishing its military capabilities by securing strategic locations and critical access points to Gaza. He noted that Israeli forces currently control over 50% of the Gaza Strip's territory, although they do not govern the population.

He asserted that Hamas's governance will not persist on the other side of the border, even if achieving this goal requires additional time. Zamir highlighted that the military is confronting multi-faceted challenges and is adapting to an evolving situation.

These remarks come amid rising calls within Israel to intensify military operations, particularly from right-wing factions that argue the government has yet to fulfill its objectives in the ongoing conflict, especially in areas like Rafah and the southern regions of Gaza.
