FIFA Launches New Annual Peace Award to Be Given During World Cup Draw

The International Football Federation "FIFA" announced the launch of a new award named "FIFA Peace Award," which will be presented for the first time during the World Cup draw scheduled for December 5 in the U.S. capital, Washington.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the award aims to honor exceptional initiatives and efforts aimed at ending conflicts and promoting the spirit of peace in the world, emphasizing that it will be awarded annually in the name of football fans around the globe.

This announcement comes amid increasing discussions about the role of sports in easing global tensions, coinciding with preparations for the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

FIFA recently appointed Ivanka Trump to the board of a $100 million educational project partially funded by sales from the 2026 World Cup tickets.
