Syrian Authorities Clarify Passport Validity and Apologize for Confusion

Colonel Arabi expressed regret for any confusion stemming from earlier communications, stating, "I apologize to our Syrian citizens abroad for any misunderstanding caused by previous statements. It was never our intention to offend, as many of these individuals are children of this homeland, forced to leave to escape the actions of the previous regime."
He detailed that ordinary citizens are eligible for passports valid for six years, while those undergoing security reviews will receive passports valid for two and a half years. He noted, "Once these procedures are completed, individuals can obtain a six-year passport without further issues."
The official reiterated the department's commitment to serving Syrians both inside and outside the country, emphasizing that passport-related decisions are based on clear legal frameworks and individual case assessments.
This clarification follows widespread discussions about passport validity and issuance processes, prompting authorities to reaffirm citizens' rights and ensure adherence to applicable laws.
