US Treasury Imposes Sanctions on Entities Linked to Sudan's Rapid Support Forces Amid Human Rights Violations

The US Treasury announced on Tuesday that it has imposed sanctions on four entities and four individuals, predominantly Colombian nationals, due to their support for the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. This includes activities such as child recruitment and actions that intensify the ongoing conflict.

The Treasury stated that the brutality exhibited by the Rapid Support Forces has contributed to the escalation of the war and created conditions conducive to the growth of terrorist groups.

It was further noted that the Rapid Support Forces and their allies have committed severe human rights violations against civilians, including the systematic killing of men and boys, as well as targeted attacks on women and girls involving rape and other forms of sexual violence.

The US Treasury highlighted that the Rapid Support Forces, with the assistance of Colombian fighters, have taken control of the city of El Fasher and continue to perpetrate atrocities against the local population.
