Southern Transitional Council Delegation Heads to Riyadh for Dialogue Conference

On Wednesday morning, attention turned to Riyadh as informed sources confirmed that a delegation from Yemen's Southern Transitional Council (STC) has departed for Saudi Arabia in response to an official invitation to attend a comprehensive dialogue conference focused on southern issues.
The conference in Riyadh is set to gather all factions, forces, and figures from the south, aiming to discuss equitable and comprehensive solutions to the southern question. This initiative follows a request from Rashad al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Council, who asked Saudi Arabia to host this crucial meeting, hoping it will provide a unifying platform to ease tensions and pave the way for a consensual political resolution.
The timing of the conference is particularly sensitive, as the STC has gained control over significant areas in the Hadramaut and Al-Mahra provinces. This situation prompted the National Protection Forces to launch a military operation on January 2, aimed at reclaiming military sites, which resulted in their control over these provinces.
Sources within the STC confirmed that the delegation traveling to Riyadh is substantial and represents the political and military council, indicating a serious commitment to participate in the dialogue and discuss various raised issues.
Many Yemeni factions in Hadramaut, Al-Mahra, Shabwa, Abyan, and other provinces welcomed Riyadh's response to convene this conference, viewing it as a vital opportunity to de-escalate conflicts and promote southern unity.
In turn, the Saudi Ministry reiterated its support for the Presidential Council's request and affirmed the Kingdom's backing for all efforts aimed at achieving stability, fostering political dialogue, and finding peaceful solutions that benefit Yemen and the region.
The conference in Riyadh is anticipated to be a turning point in addressing southern issues, with widespread expectations for outcomes and agreements that could realign the political landscape in southern Yemen.
