Severe Snowstorms Hit Northern Japan, Resulting in 46 Fatalities

Northern Japan has been battered by severe snowstorms over the past three weeks, resulting in 46 fatalities and 558 injuries, according to new data released by Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency on Tuesday.
The heavy snowfall, which began in late January, has caused unprecedented traffic disruptions, particularly along the coast of the Sea of Japan.
Tragic incidents occurred as residents were killed by snow falling from rooftops or while attempting to clear the snow, as reported by local police and officials.
In Aomori Prefecture, located in northern Japan, snow accumulation reached 1.3 meters, posing significant challenges for residents, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The storm has raised concerns among both authorities and citizens, prompting warnings to exercise caution and avoid risks associated with heavy snowfall, including potential roof collapses or avalanches.
