Israel Announces Progress in Destroying Hamas Tunnels and Plans for Disarmament with Multinational Support

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that a U.S.-led multinational force is set to take on the responsibility of disarming Hamas in Gaza, particularly in areas still under the group's control.
During a military operation oversight, Katz stated, "I have just been informed by the Deputy Chief of Staff that the special operation to destroy Hamas tunnels in Gaza is progressing well. The Israeli army is working to eliminate the tunnels through demolitions or by filling them with liquid concrete in all areas under their control."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed at the start of a government meeting on Sunday that "Gaza will be disarmed, and Hamas will be stripped of its weapons, either easily or through more difficult means." He added, "I do not require reinforcements, tweets, or lectures from anyone."
Netanyahu also reiterated Israel's stance against the establishment of a Palestinian state, stating, "Our opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state on any part of the land remains unchanged."
In this context, the U.S. administration continues its efforts to resolve the crisis involving Hamas fighters trapped in the tunnels of Rafah in southern Gaza, aiming to transition to the second phase of the Gaza agreement. Israel insists that those trapped must surrender and hand over their weapons before they can escape.
