Trump to Announce International Peace Council for Gaza Next Week

U.S. officials announced on Wednesday that President Donald Trump will reveal the establishment of the "Peace Council for Gaza" next week. This initiative, led by Trump and involving several global leaders, aims to facilitate the next phase of efforts to end the conflict in the Palestinian territories.
The officials confirmed that the announcement will mark the transition to the second phase of the agreement aimed at stabilizing Gaza, according to the website "Axios."
Earlier this year, Trump indicated that the names of the world leaders participating in the council would be disclosed soon, noting that several leaders have expressed interest in joining the council, which is part of the Gaza plan to cease hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
A U.S. report revealed that the United States has proposed former international Middle East envoy Nikolai Mladenov to serve as the local representative of the Peace Council, working closely with a future technocratic Palestinian government.
On November 17, 2025, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution welcoming the establishment of the Peace Council in Gaza as a transitional administration with international legal personality, tasked with creating a framework for coordinating funding for the region's reconstruction.
The resolution received support from 13 countries, while Russia and China abstained, and both Israel and Hamas expressed opposition to certain aspects of the plan.
The initiative is based on a 20-point peace document crafted by President Trump, which was approved by all parties during the summit in Sharm El-Sheikh in October 2025.
Regarding international involvement, countries such as Turkey, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Indonesia have shown interest in joining the international stabilization force but emphasized the need for official United Nations approval before participating.
The primary role of the Peace Council will be to oversee the performance of the technocratic Palestinian committee responsible for providing public and municipal services in Gaza, as well as to establish the operational framework for the reconstruction and management of funds allocated for the region's development.
