Google has issued a critical security alert for Android users worldwide, following the discovery of numerous vulnerabilities in the open-source platform. This prompted the company to expedite a vital security update.

Reports from tech outlets, including ZDNet, indicate that Google’s cybersecurity team identified 107 security vulnerabilities within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) at the start of December. These vulnerabilities impact a range of versions, specifically from Android 13 to Android 16.

The report highlighted that several vulnerabilities are deemed critical, with two being classified as extremely severe: CVE-2025-48633 and CVE-2025-48572. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has been notified of these threats, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

Experts from ZDNet noted that high-impact vulnerabilities often target the Android kernel, which can be exploited by cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to devices, potentially compromising user data.

In light of these findings, Google announced on December 5 the release of new security updates aimed at addressing these critical vulnerabilities. The company, along with cybersecurity experts, is urging all Android users to promptly download and install the updates to safeguard their devices.

This warning follows earlier alerts from tech sources regarding serious vulnerabilities in the system, advising users to update their devices swiftly to protect their personal information and digital security.
