UNRWA announces the readiness of more than 8000 teachers to ensure the return of education in Gaza amidst enormous challenges

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced today, Saturday, the readiness of more than 8000 of its teachers to begin the process of returning children in the Gaza Strip to their classrooms and resuming their educational journey.

This announcement came in a press release issued by the agency, emphasizing its pivotal role, stating that it is "the largest humanitarian organization in Gaza, and it must be allowed to carry out its work without obstacles."

The statement highlighted the long educational suffering experienced by the children of the sector, affirming that "children in Gaza have not been able to attend school for a very long time."

This step comes under exceptional circumstances, as data from health authorities in Gaza indicate that the Israeli military campaign has resulted in nearly 68,000 fatalities. Additionally, the ongoing Israeli bombardment has led to the near-total destruction of educational infrastructure, forcing many families to continuously flee from violence, which has caused children to be out of school for nearly two years.
