UNICEF Reports Over 100,000 Displaced in El Fasher Amid Ongoing Violence

UNICEF reported on Friday that El Fasher, located in the Darfur region, is facing a significant displacement crisis, with over 100,000 individuals having fled since the end of October. This number continues to grow daily due to rising violence and worsening humanitarian conditions.

The agency noted that a majority of those displaced are women and children, who are enduring harsh circumstances in temporary shelters, including severe shortages of food, water, and healthcare, alongside ongoing security threats.

UNICEF cautioned that continued conflict will further aggravate the humanitarian situation, urging the international community to enhance support for urgent assistance and to prioritize civilian protection.
