Dutch coach Arne Slot responded to reports about his potential dismissal amid a series of poor results for the team in the English Premier League in recent weeks.
Liverpool has suffered 6 defeats in their last 7 matches, dropping from the top of the league to seventh place after four consecutive losses. They also exited the EFL Cup after losing to Crystal Palace 0-3 at Anfield.
Liverpool will host Aston Villa today, Saturday, in the tenth round of the Premier League, marking the beginning of a crucial week before the international break, during which they will also face Manchester City in the league and Real Madrid in the group stage of the Champions League.
Slot confirmed that the club's management's position is clear and has not changed, stating: “The owners tell me the same things they said last year. I mainly talk to Richard Hughes, the sporting director, and sometimes with others, and they see what I see. For me, the conversations have not changed much.”
He added: “I am not only looking for positives... expectations are always high at Liverpool, but what can be confirmed is that the commitment within the training center has not changed from what it was last season.”
Media reports indicated that Slot also enjoys support within the dressing room, while the management has temporarily frozen negotiations to renew his contract, awaiting the team's results in the upcoming matches.
Slot had led Liverpool in his first season to win the Premier League title for the twentieth time in its history, equaling Manchester United's record.
