On Friday, Basha Tabeeq, advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, indicated that Sudan's Sovereign Council President Abdel Fattah Burhan's announcement of a general mobilization and his refusal to negotiate represent a decisive message to those considering responding to international efforts aimed at ending the conflict.
Tabeeq noted that Burhan's announcement directly responds to remarks made by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and serves as a clear indication that the military leadership in Khartoum is not prepared to enter into negotiations at this time.
Regarding Burhan's stipulation that the Rapid Support Forces must surrender their weapons prior to any negotiations, Tabeeq dismissed this as "unrealistic expectations," arguing that such a condition reflects a lack of genuine commitment to achieving a comprehensive political resolution.
