Laporta Questions Mbappe's Sportsmanship After Spanish Super Cup Final

Kylian Mbappe, the French forward for Real Madrid, has ignited controversy following the Spanish Super Cup final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Reports indicate that he instructed his teammates not to participate in the honor guard to greet Barcelona players as they approached the podium.
This incident occurred after Barcelona triumphed over Real Madrid with a score of 3-2, securing the Spanish Super Cup title at Al-Inma Stadium.
Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, was particularly vocal in his disapproval of Mbappe's conduct, expressing his surprise during an interview with "Radio Catalunya."
Laporta stated:
"I was taken aback by Mbappe's actions. In both victory and defeat, one should display generosity and respect. This is a sport, and one should behave accordingly. At Barcelona, we honor our opponents when we win, which is why I found Mbappe's behavior puzzling."
He further elaborated on the pre-existing tensions:
"There was a notable tension following the last league match, which is understandable. While I didn’t witness Mbappe's actions firsthand, I recognize that Real Madrid players were visibly upset."
Laporta continued:
"I believe they were aware of our stronger chances of winning, which likely fueled their frustration on the field."
These comments come amid ongoing discussions about player behavior in high-stakes matches, particularly in El Clasico, where the scrutiny of sportsmanship remains a critical issue regardless of the competitive intensity.
