A court in the city of Novosibirsk, Russia, sentenced a woman to 10 years and one month in prison after she was convicted of attempting to smuggle drugs to her partner, who was accused in a criminal case, through a kiss inside the courthouse.

According to a statement issued by the district prosecutor's office, the accused had purchased the drugs in advance and hid them in her mouth before entering the administrative building of the court, then waited for her partner, who was under security escort, to attend the hearing.

As soon as she saw him, the accused attempted to pass the narcotic substance through a direct kiss on his lips, but one of the security personnel in the hall noticed the incident and intervened immediately, leading to the seizure of the narcotic substance and its confiscation, before an official investigation was opened that ended with her conviction.

The public prosecution confirmed that the ruling was based on the seriousness of the act and the attempt to exploit a judicial facility to secretly smuggle prohibited substances.
