Eight Security Personnel Killed in Iran Amid Armed Unrest, Over 100 Arrested

Iranian authorities have confirmed that eight security personnel lost their lives during armed unrest in two provinces of the country, with around 100 individuals arrested in connection to these disturbances.

State media reported that a first lieutenant was killed in an armed attack on police station number 11 in Rudbar, Gilan province. Officer Mohammad Bour Ibrahim was shot with a hunting rifle on Friday evening and succumbed to his injuries the following morning.

In Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi province, seven security personnel were reported killed while on duty, according to the director general of the Martyr and Veteran Affairs Foundation in the area.

The mayor of Baharestan County, located south of Tehran, stated that approximately 100 individuals were arrested for their involvement in the riots, noting that the detainees were armed with firearms and bladed weapons during their attempts to disrupt public order.

Several cities across Iran are facing heightened security tensions. General Amir Hatami, the commander of the Iranian army, reiterated the commitment of armed forces to maintain security and defend the nation. He characterized the recent protests as a "conspiracy backed by foreign entities" aimed at undermining public order and national security.
