Instagram Addresses User Concerns Following Data Theft Allegations

Concerns have emerged among Instagram users following an announcement by Malwarebytes, an American cybersecurity firm, claiming that data from 17.5 million Instagram accounts had been compromised. However, the platform swiftly refuted these claims, stating there was no breach of its systems as of Sunday.
In an official statement, Instagram affirmed, "We have resolved the issue that allowed a third party to request password reset messages for certain users," emphasizing that all user accounts remain secure.
Malwarebytes' report suggested that attackers may have accessed sensitive information such as usernames, email addresses, phone numbers, and other personal details, raising concerns about potential misuse.
With over 2.4billion active users, Instagram ranks as the third largest social network globally, following Facebook and YouTube. Its vast user base, which includes influencers and marketers, makes it a prime target for hackers seeking personal data.
