Dutch Foreign Minister Calls for Action Amid Atrocities in El Fasher

Dutch Foreign Minister David van Vijl condemned the ongoing violence in El Fasher on Friday, describing it as a situation marked by severe human rights abuses, including killings, sexual violence, and starvation inflicted by the Rapid Support Forces.

He urged for an immediate cessation of these violations and called for strict compliance with the United Nations arms embargo. Van Vijl emphasized the pressing need for increased humanitarian assistance to support civilians trapped in the crisis.

His remarks coincide with a worsening humanitarian situation in the Darfur region, where the UN Refugee Agency reports that over 100,000 individuals have been displaced from El Fasher in just two weeks, amid warnings of a deepening humanitarian disaster.
