Egyptian Actor Killed Outside Club, Suspect Detained Amid Social Media Debate

The murder of Egyptian actor Said Saleh Mokhtar, aged 56, outside a well-known club in the city of Sixth of October has sparked significant debate on social media regarding the implications of family and divorce issues.
The Giza Security Directorate received a report on Sunday about a fatal incident occurring outside the club. The body of Mokhtar was discovered alongside that of a businessman, identified as Atef.A, aged 61, who sustained injuries.
Investigations revealed that the incident stemmed from family issues, as Mokhtar was at the location to meet his 9-year-old son following his separation from his wife. Reports indicate that his ex-wife was accompanied by a businessman she had married informally three months earlier while they were en route to the club.
According to the woman’s testimony to the police, Mokhtar allegedly attacked her and her husband with a weapon. She claimed that her husband sustained injuries while defending himself, resulting in Mokhtar's death, which she described as "unintentional."
The Egyptian Public Prosecution has detained the businessman accused in the case for four days pending further investigation and has summoned Mokhtar's ex-wife for questioning to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident has not only prompted official inquiries but has also ignited discussions on social media, where opinions vary. Many activists view the situation as a "wake-up call" regarding the repercussions of divorce and custody disputes, while others highlight concerns about violence against women during and after divorce, emphasizing the need for protective measures in family disputes.
