Bayern Munich announced today, Tuesday, the renewal of its Belgian coach Vincent Kompany's contract until June 30, 2029, after his current contract was set to expire in the summer of 2027, following a successful first season that saw him win the German league and the German Super Cup at the beginning of the new season.

Kompany's Statements

Kompany said to the club's official website: "I am proud and grateful for this great trust from Bayern Munich's management. From day one, I felt like I was part of this great club. We have had a wonderful journey so far, and we will continue to work to achieve more successes."

Kompany's Playing Career

Vincent Kompany is considered one of Belgium's most prominent football players in history. He began his career at the Anderlecht academy and excelled until he became one of the best defenders in Belgium, winning the league title twice and the Best Player award in 2004.
In 2006, he moved to Hamburger SV in Germany, then to Manchester City in 2008, where he led the team to win four Premier League titles and several other domestic trophies. Internationally, he represented the Belgium national team in over 80 matches, participated in the World Cup and the European Championship, and was part of the golden generation that achieved third place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Coaching Career

After retiring in 2019, Kompany began coaching at Anderlecht, then took charge of Burnley in England and led them to the Premier League with an impressive attacking style, which caught Bayern Munich's attention to appoint him as coach in the summer of 2024, succeeding Thomas Tuchel, achieving the domestic double in his first season, prompting the club's management to extend his contract until 2029 to strengthen confidence in his long-term technical project.
