In a significant move during the winter transfer window, Atletico Madrid has officially announced the acquisition of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta. The contract extends for 4.5 years, running until June 2030.

The 28-year-old Lookman is recognized for his versatility, capable of playing as a central striker, a fast winger, or an attacking midfielder. His speed and dribbling skills allow him to operate effectively on both flanks, making him a valuable asset to Atletico's offensive lineup.

Lookman began his professional career with Charlton Athletic in November 2015, subsequently playing for clubs including Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City before joining Atalanta in the summer of 2022. He was also honored with the African Player of the Year award in 2025, highlighting his impressive performances in recent seasons.

Currently, Atletico Madrid is positioned third in La Liga with 45 points, trailing second-placed Real Madrid by 9 points and leaders Barcelona by 10 points. The addition of Lookman is viewed as a crucial step to bolster the team's aspirations for the title.

This transfer is regarded as one of the standout moves of the current season and is anticipated to have a substantial impact on Atletico Madrid's performance this season and in the future.
