After a full year of prohibition and controversy, the film "The Last Miracles" by director Abdel Wahab Shawky returns to the spotlight, officially participating in the 46th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, which kicks off on November 12, as part of the short narrative films competition.

* From El Gouna to Cairo .. The journey of a controversial film

The film was scheduled to premiere during the opening of the seventh edition of the El Gouna Film Festival last year, but the censorship authority at that time, led by the former censor Khaled Abdel Jalil, refused to grant it a screening permit, which led to its prohibition for censorship reasons that were not disclosed at the time.

However, things changed this year, after the film finally received censorship approval, under the supervision of the new censor Abdel Rahim Kamal, allowing it the opportunity to participate in one of the most important cinematic events in the Arab world.

* About the story and the heroes

The film is based on the story "Miracle" by the late writer Naguib Mahfouz, and stars artist Khaled Kamal.

Its events revolve around the character "Yahya", a 40-year-old journalist, who receives a mysterious call from a deceased person, leading him into a mysterious and complex spiritual journey that explores the boundaries between reality and metaphysics.

* The director: "We fought a fierce battle"

Director Abdel Wahab Shawky expressed his great happiness at the acceptance of his film in the Cairo Festival, considering it "the fruit of a long and complex battle" he fought to bring the work to light.

He added that this experience has given him "a group of spectators" who are eagerly awaiting its screening.

* The festival administration welcomes

The administration of the Cairo International Film Festival, headed by artist Hussein Fahmy, announced the official inclusion of "The Last Miracles" in the short narrative films competition, giving it its well-deserved opportunity after a long delay.

"The Last Miracles" is not just a film that has returned from prohibition to permission, but represents an artistic and legal challenge, reflecting a real battle between creativity and censorship, finally reaching the audience through the window of the prestigious Cairo Festival.
