U.S. Treasury Sanctions Entities Linked to Rapid Support Forces Amid Widespread Violations in Sudan

On Tuesday, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against four entities and four individuals, mostly Colombian, due to their involvement in supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan. This includes activities such as child recruitment and actions that escalate the ongoing conflict.

The department stated that the brutality exhibited by the RSF has intensified the war and destabilized the region, creating conditions conducive to the rise of terrorist groups.

It further noted that the RSF and its allies have committed serious violations against civilians, including the systematic killing of men and boys, as well as targeted assaults on women and girls through rape and other forms of sexual violence.

The U.S. Treasury emphasized that the RSF has seized control of the city of Al-Fasher with the assistance of Colombian fighters and continues to perpetrate atrocities against the local population.
