Southern Transitional Council Delegation Heads to Riyadh for Dialogue Conference

Attention is focused on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as a delegation from Yemen's Southern Transitional Council departs for the kingdom this Wednesday morning. This follows confirmation from reliable sources that the delegation is responding to an official invitation to participate in a comprehensive southern dialogue conference.
The conference in Riyadh is expected to bring together all factions, forces, and figures from southern Yemen, providing a platform for dialogue to discuss equitable and comprehensive solutions to southern issues. This initiative follows a request from Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, who has urged Saudi Arabia to host this critical meeting, hoping it will serve as a unifying platform to ease tensions and pave the way for a consensus political agreement.
The timing of the conference is particularly sensitive, as the Southern Transitional Council has gained control over significant areas in Hadramout and Al-Mahra provinces. This prompted the “Shield of the Homeland” forces to launch a military operation on January 2, described as peaceful, aimed at regaining military barracks and effectively asserting control over these provinces.
Sources within the Southern Transitional Council have confirmed that the delegation heading to Riyadh is substantial and represents the political and military weight of the council, indicating a serious commitment to dialogue and a willingness to discuss various raised issues.
Many Yemeni factions in Hadramout, Al-Mahra, Shabwa, Abyan, and other provinces have welcomed Riyadh's response to hold this conference, viewing it as a significant opportunity to address differences and unify the southern front.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Council of Ministers reiterated its support for the request from the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, affirming the kingdom's backing for all efforts aimed at achieving stability, promoting political dialogue, and reaching peaceful solutions that enhance security in Yemen and the broader region.
The Riyadh conference is anticipated to be a turning point in addressing southern Yemen's issues, amid widespread expectations regarding its outcomes and potential agreements that could reshape the political landscape in the region.
