U.S. and Israel Conduct Joint Naval Exercises in the Red Sea Amid Rising Tensions with Iran

In a move to enhance military collaboration, the United States and Israel conducted joint naval exercises in the Red Sea on Sunday. Both nations characterized the drills as routine, yet they occur against a backdrop of increasing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The U.S. Navy's guided-missile destroyer, the "Delbert D. Black," participated in the maneuvers. This vessel is noted for its advanced defensive capabilities against aerial and naval threats, as well as its precision strike capabilities against land targets.
Following the exercises, the destroyer made its way to the Israeli coastal city of Eilat.
On the Israeli side, the warship "INS Eilat" was also involved in the drills. The Israeli military confirmed that these exercises highlight the close cooperation between the naval forces of both countries.
Relations between the United States and Iran have soured in recent weeks, with President Donald Trump repeatedly threatening military action against Iran. In response, Iran has issued warnings of potential retaliatory strikes against both Israel and the U.S. should any attacks occur.
Despite the escalating tensions, reports indicate that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is set to meet with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Biegun to engage in discussions aimed at de-escalating the situation.
