Israeli Operations in Southern Syria Result in Casualties and Displacement

Israeli military operations in southern Syria, particularly around Beit Jann, have reportedly resulted in fatalities and the displacement of several families, as reported by Syrian media.
According to these reports, an Israeli incursion from Beit Jann into Mazraat Beit Jann led to the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to others. There has also been an increase in Israeli drone activity over the area.
The reports indicate that drone surveillance is focused on the road connecting Beit Jann to Mazraat Beit Jann, amidst rising tensions. Many families have fled the area to seek refuge in what they consider safer locations due to fears of further military operations.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement on Friday through spokesperson Avichai Adraee, confirming a nighttime military operation in Beit Jann.
The statement detailed that Israeli forces arrested individuals suspected of being affiliated with an Islamic group, following intelligence gathered over recent weeks indicating that the group was planning attacks against Israeli civilians.
The IDF added that its troops came under fire and responded, resulting in injuries to six soldiers, with varying degrees of severity.
According to Adraee's statement, "The operation was completed successfully, with all targets apprehended and several terrorists eliminated." He noted that forces remain deployed in the area and will continue operations against perceived threats.
These actions are part of ongoing Israeli operations throughout Syria in 2025, targeting locations around Damascus and in the southern region, which Israel claims are necessary to mitigate threats and protect the Druze community near the border.
Syrian authorities have reported that these attacks resulted in the deaths of their military personnel.
