Saudi Arabia to Host Conference for Southern Yemen Following Alimi's Request

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday its acceptance of a request from Rashad Alimi, President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, to hold a comprehensive conference in Riyadh. This conference aims to bring together all factions from southern Yemen.
According to an official statement, the conference is designed to facilitate dialogue among the parties involved to discuss equitable solutions for southern Yemen, ensuring peaceful coexistence and the security and stability of the southern provinces.
Alimi expressed his hope that the conference would include all southern forces and personalities without exception, including the Southern Transitional Council. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity and respecting the historical, political, and social dimensions of the southern issue.
This request from Alimi follows appeals from southern factions for the Kingdom to host and sponsor the conference in Riyadh, aiming to ensure a neutral process that serves the interests of all southern residents.
* Responses from Southern Factions
This development follows a statement from southern political factions on Friday, which categorically rejected unilateral measures taken by Aidros Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council. They described these actions as an attack on the core issues facing the south and as marginalizing many leaders and components.
The factions stated in their communiqué that Al-Zubaidi's unilateral decisions were made to serve external agendas, which they claim have harmed the southern issue and the "cohesion of the south."
This initiative is seen as an opportunity to restore unity in the south and achieve comprehensive dialogue, with Saudi Arabia welcoming Yemeni efforts to resolve the crisis while preserving the interests of all parties involved.
