Amr Zaki Arrested at Cairo Airport Due to Travel Ban

Cairo International Airport witnessed an unexpected incident on Friday night when authorities detained former Egyptian national team star and Zamalek player Amr Zaki while he was attempting to travel abroad.
Security sources indicated that a security check revealed Zaki's name was on the travel ban list due to ongoing legal cases.
According to the sources, a definitive judicial sentence of one year in prison was issued against Amr Zaki related to an "accidental injury" case that took place in Alamein. Additionally, there are other travel bans linked to family disputes pending in court.
The arrest was part of airport security procedures aimed at enforcing judicial sentences and preventing individuals wanted by the law from leaving the country.
Zaki was immediately detained and will be presented to the prosecutor's office for legal proceedings.
Regarding his sports career, Amr Zaki began playing for Al Mansoura before moving to Enppi in the 2003 season, where he helped the team win the Egypt Cup in the 2004-2005 season.
His talent shone during the 2006 African Cup, leading to professional opportunities with Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia and Wigan Athletic in England, before ultimately returning to join Zamalek and conclude his football career.
