Egypt Sends 91st Aid Convoy to Gaza Amid Humanitarian Crisis

In a continued effort to assist the Gaza Strip, the Egyptian Red Crescent launched its 91st aid convoy this morning, Wednesday, as part of the "Zad Al-Izza.. from Egypt to Gaza" initiative. The convoy is carrying over 10,000 tons of crucial aid, which includes food, medical supplies, and winter essentials.
According to the Egyptian Red Crescent, the convoy consists of 6,200 tons of food baskets, more than 2,600 tons of essential medical and relief supplies, and approximately 1,200 tons of petroleum products. The organization highlighted that part of the aid is designated to address the severe winter conditions, including over 45,000 blankets, 25,900 winter clothing items, and 10,225 tents for those affected.
This convoy is part of an ongoing support initiative that began on July 27, with earlier convoys delivering thousands of tons of varied aid. The Egyptian Red Crescent has been active at the border since the crisis began, stating that the Rafah crossing has remained open from the Egyptian side. The organization has facilitated the entry of over half a million tons of humanitarian aid with the assistance of 35,000 volunteers.
The launch of this convoy coincides with alarming reports regarding the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. Palestinian sources have indicated that the crisis is escalating, particularly with the onset of winter, leading to significant shortages of vital food items such as flour, oil, sugar, rice, and baby formula. They warn that malnutrition poses a serious threat to approximately 50,000 infants under one year old and about 300,000 children under five.
