The Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has achieved another milestone with the national team, matching the record of Ivorian great Didier Drogba as one of Africa's top goal scorers.
Salah netted the decisive goal in Egypt's 1-0 victory over South Africa during the second round of Group B matches at the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025". This goal marks his 65th international tally, placing him alongside Drogba in the fourth spot of Africa's all-time international goal scorers.
With this latest achievement, Salah is now just four goals shy of Hossam Hassan, the current coach of the Egyptian national team, who occupies the third position with 69 goals. Salah aims to break into the top three African goal scorers in national team history.
The current standings for Africa's international top scorers are as follows:
Godfrey Chitalu (Zambia): 79 goals.
Kena Ferry (Malawi): 71 goals.
Hossam Hassan (Egypt): 69 goals.
Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast): 65 goals.
= Mohamed Salah (Egypt): 65 goals.
Through these accomplishments, Mohamed Salah continues to cement his legacy in African football, reinforcing his status as one of the continent's premier strikers.
