Russian Blogger Under Investigation for Risky Video Involving Her Son

Russian authorities have initiated an investigation into a blogger following the release of a controversial video that depicts her 10-year-old son inside a vacuum-sealed storage bag, a situation that has drawn significant backlash on social media.
Anna Sabarina, 36, shared footage of her son, Stas, lying inside a vacuum bag on the floor of their home. In the video, after instructing her son to take a deep breath and count to three, she quickly seals the bag and uses a vacuum hose to remove the air.
Within moments, the boy can be heard screaming for his mother, prompting Sabarina to open the bag. He emerges smiling and gives a thumbs-up while gasping for air.
Sabarina stated that her intention behind the video was to entertain and increase her online views, particularly during a period when her son was unable to attend school due to illness.
The video elicited strong reactions from viewers and child safety advocates, who criticized her actions as reckless and potentially life-threatening, noting that the vacuum bag could have suffocated the child.
Sabarina is currently under investigation by the Saratov regional police and child welfare authorities. This inquiry was prompted by routine monitoring of online content.
A police spokesperson informed the Russian news agency TASS that the video raised concerns about potential illegal actions against her child.
Authorities have pledged to conduct a thorough review of the situation, including an assessment by child protection services.
Following the news of the investigation, Sabarina, who has a substantial following online, deleted the video shortly after it was reported.
If found guilty, she could face a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine reaching 500,000 rubles.
