Rafah Crossing to Facilitate Daily Passage of 150 Palestinian Patients to Egypt for Medical Care

Initial Crossing Details
On the first day of the official resumption of operations, 12 patients and 7 companions successfully crossed the border. A subsequent group of patients is expected to arrive, with plans for 50 Palestinians who have completed their treatment in Egyptian hospitals to return to Gaza today.
Conditions Eligible for Crossing
Authorities noted that only individuals suffering from severe medical conditions, such as chronic illnesses and injuries from conflict, are permitted to cross, highlighting the crossing's critical role as a lifeline for those in need of urgent medical attention.
International Oversight of the Crossing
The patient crossings are organized under agreed-upon arrangements that facilitate the exit of 150 individuals from Gaza daily, while allowing 50 individuals to enter from Egypt. The European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) oversees the crossing in collaboration with Egyptian officials, who provide a daily list of individuals seeking to return to Gaza for security vetting by Israel. Concurrently, the European mission submits a list of departing individuals to Egypt for approval or denial.
