The Chargé d'Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Damascus, Mr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, confirmed that the humanitarian aid provided by the State of Qatar to Syria comes as part of Doha's ongoing commitment to support the Syrian people and enhance joint efforts with Damascus to develop long-term developmental and humanitarian plans.
In an official statement today, Monday, Al Mahmoud clarified that the recent aid arrived via a Qatari plane carrying about 12 tons of relief materials, as part of a continuous air and land bridge aimed at meeting urgent needs in the affected areas.
He also pointed out that the coming period will witness the arrival of a convoy consisting of 22 aid trucks provided by the Qatar Red Crescent, loaded with food, medical, and relief materials, in a step that reflects the level of coordination between Qatari and Syrian institutions in the humanitarian field.
This support comes in the context of the increasing diplomatic openness between the two countries and Qatar's affirmation of its regional role in supporting stability and reconstruction, especially in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions that Syria is experiencing.
